Taiko at CicLAvia wrapup

Taiko at CicLAvia was awesome! Playing taiko while rolling through the streets of LA, with the friendly vibe of the 100,000 CicLAvia riders, was delightful. The ride to and from Torrance added a physical-challenge element that made for a real adventure.

I would go so far as to say that CicLAvia might become my favorite performance venue. I’m looking forward to refining the music and the bike trailers to someday make Taiko at CicLAvia world-class art.

Here are some photos along with ideas for next time. Thanks to Kuni and Jonathan for the photos!

Tradition #1 – Breakfast on the trailer

The ride started at 7am in Torrance. Home-cooked bento on the trailer for all riders! Next time, no chopsticks required and no sauces to worry about spilling.

Tradition #2 – Flute players on skateboard and in back seat

The flutes sounded awesome, and Maz on longboard was one of my favorite things of the day.

Tradition #3 – Orange mochi reward at Expo Park

Stacey gave us some delightful treats in Little Tokyo including fresh orange mochi. It was the perfect snack after making our way across the course back to Exposition Park. Thanks, Stacey!

Thank you so much to everyone involved in our very first attempt at Taiko at CicLAvia! More to come!!
