We’re on track for this Sunday’s trial of the bike taiko trailer! Assuming we survive the long haul, Hiro, Jason, Tomomi and I will reach Exposition Park at 10am and then make our way to Little Tokyo. We’ve worked out a number of fun things to try, including a bon-odori-style dance that we can do on bikes!
Join us at Exposition Park
Join us for the full event! In Exposition Park we’ll do a few experiments and teach a few ideas, then ride for about a mile before doing some more. We’ll add something each time we stop so that we’ve got a fun, musical procession by the time we reach Little Tokyo. Total distance from Expo Park to Little Tokyo is 5 miles. Parking is available at Exposition Park.
See http://www.ciclavia.org/files/Parking_Lot_List-7112.pdf for more info.
A number of folks will be parking in Little Tokyo and taking the bus to Exposition Park. If you’d like to join this group, they will be taking the Metro Local bus 40 (“South Bay Galleria”) at 1st and Judge John Aiso at 9:12 to Exposition Park.

Join us along the route
From Exposition Park, we’ll follow the CicLAvia course, making our way to Little Tokyo. We’ll go Figueroa -> 7th -> Spring -> 1st. You’re welcome to pick a convenient spot along the course and meet up with us en-route.
Join us in Little Tokyo
Although I’m not sure exactly where, our final stop will happen somewhere in Little Tokyo. We’ll have a few battles, do a quick closing, and have lunch somewhere. Hiro and I will then head back to Exposition Park along the same route, and continue south to Torrance.
Remaining help needed
Hiro and I are looking for two brave souls to ride back with us from Exposition Park to Torrance. It’s about 10 miles and at our slow pace, will probably be 2 hours. We’ll take turns riding the tandem and sitting on the trailer. Let me know if you’re available!
We’re also looking for two, low-profile, lightweight lawn chairs for the folks riding on the trailer.
I’m terribly excited about this event. CicLAvia is perhaps my favorite LA tradition and adding taiko will just about make me pop. Please join us if you’re in town!
