David and I taught our second practice workshop yesterday and had a great time with Jodaiko! Thank you to Katy and the gang for being our guinea pigs. David and I feel much better prepared and we’re inspired by the energy and abilities of everyone. Next up… the real deal… at Conference!
David Wells and I have been busily preparing for our Bon Taiko Bonanza workshop at Taiko Conference. We’re trying some ambitious, new things, so we asked local taiko groups if they’d have us for a practice workshop. Last night, members of Kyodo, Yukai, Psycho Taiko, Kazan, and others joined us for a run-through. It was great fun and with a bit more practice, David and I will pull off the crazy Comprehensive Choreography Correction Clinic demo.
Tomorrow, Jodaiko is hosting our second practice workshop at UCI. If you’d like to join us, let me know!

Thank you so very much to all of our donors! The fundraising campaign raised over $7000 to empower InventiOn 2011, On Ensemble’s year-long focus on creativity. We’ll be debuting much of our new work at our Torrance performance in October. In the meantime, we hope the FoundatiOn Team members enjoy the music, new t-shirts, bags, and love letters. Thank you all!
The beautiful and talented Kim Nakashima came to our performance at JCI Carnival and took some great photos. Thank you, Kim!
Hiro and I went to the Shoreline Aquatic Park lighthouse today to watch the arrival of bicycle crew, Wolfpack Hustle. They were racing Jet Blue’s “Carmageddon Flyover” from Burbank to Long Beach. They departed at the recommended airport arrival time for the flight (1.5 hours before departure), and arrived a few minutes before the flight was to take off from Burbank. Way to go Wolfpack Hustle!
