Next up: Minneapolis

This weekend we’ll be performing with Mu Daiko at the Ritz Theater in Minneapolis from Friday November 21st through Sunday November 23rd.  Mu Daiko was one of the first On Ensemble supporters.  Back in December  of 2003 they brought us to Minneapolis as guest artists for their annual concert series.  Michelle was still with us we didn’t tour with a drum kit or a turntable and the koto was used for only one piece: Gengakki and even that has changed drastically since then.  We’re looking forward to hanging and performing with Mu Daiko again!

Mu Daiko with On Ensemble
November 21-23rd
Friday and Saturday at 7:30pm Sunday at 2:00pm
Tickets: $25 students/seniors, $27 general
Buy tickets by phone: 612 436-1129 or online

During the week Kris, Maz and Kelvin will be headed up to Winnipeg to lead workshops for our friends up in Winnipeg Hinode Taiko.  I’m unfortunately going to miss the Winnipeg trip and will miss Mr. Ono’s amazing butterfish sushi and famous tuna, avocado and grapefruit salad.

Thanks for visiting our website Eunice! There are four of us. Kris (the guy in blue), Kelvin (the guy in orange), me (red), and Shoji (who normally wears green, but had prior engagements in Los Angeles). We met Ms. P because, I believe, she’s in Hinode Taiko which is one of the local taiko groups here in Winnipeg. We taught them workshops over the past few days. I’m not sure when our next concert in Winnipeg will be, but I’m sure Ms. P will know and will tell you if it does happen.

Hi im Jan from Stanley Knowles School. You guys were great out there!! So why were only 3 of you guys??
Because Ms.P told the Gr.6 Taiko group that there was 4 of you guys. And what school are you guys going next time you guys do a concert??

  4. Shoji says:

Hey Jan – usually there are four of us. I unfortunately had to return to Los Angeles for a family emergency and wasn’t able to be there for the Winnipeg part of the tour. We try to do a lot of educational programs and school performances while we are on tour and the best way to keep up with us is checking our website regularly. Thanks again for the comment!

We’re always looking to work with other musicians… but the venue is determined by the presenter. We’re hired by the presenter to perform in a specific space. Andrew, why don’t *you* be the presenter, and reserve a gargantuan hall!… :)
