I love the Gardena Bus system, and public transportation in general. But Gardena buses have a surprisingly ridiculous rule: No skateboards or boogie boards. I got denied access the first time I tried to ride and wasn’t aware of the rule. I was stuck downtown… thanks Mr I’m-just-following-the-rules-busdriver! I hid the skateboard on my back and came home to make this bag (from what was likely to be the last pair of long pants I ever own).

A few friends have asked that I make my Thoughts on Practice essay available at our website. Here it is!
I have come to feel that practice presents profound lifestyle challenges. My success or failure at maintaining effective, daily practice is like a measure of my health. When everything in my life is working well, I’m a good practicer. The essay above lists some of the tricks that have helped me thus far.

Great news! We just met our FoundatiOn Team Goal of $7021 thanks to a generous donation from Jun Daiko! Jun Daiko is a Mountain View based taiko group that teaches and practices at the Mountain View Buddhist Temple. It’s filled with ex-members of Stanford Taiko, Kenny Endo Taiko Ensemble, Zenshin Daiko and a few others who have migrated to the Bay Area. Thanks guys!
